Black History Month is an annual celebration of the accomplishments and contributions of African-Americans throughout history. It is celebrated in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom during the month of February. It is a time to remember important people and events such as the Emancipation Proclamation, the Civil Rights Movement, and great leaders such as Martin Luther King Jr. and Dr. Mae Jemison. By celebrating Black History Month, we recognize the essential role of African-Americans in our nation’s history and honor their legacy.
